“The plural of anecdote is data,” liberal Democrat edition:

Couple things Jim Geraghty included in his “Morning Jolt” newsletter the last couple of days, which I might not have blogged if they didn’t fit so well together.

First:

Energy Secretary Steven Chu came out swinging Friday against a House bill that would repeal a 2007 federal law effectively outlawing older forms of incandescent bulbs—an effort at energy conservation that has inflamed a wide swath of Americans who don't care for the more expensive alternatives.

In a conference call with reporters, Mr. Chu said the more-efficient bulbs required would save consumers money over the life of the product, even if the up-front price is higher.

"We are taking away a choice that continues to let people waste their own money," he said.

Well, thank goodness, then. I’d wondered when somebody was finally going to do something to stop me from wasting my money. Finally.

Stupid government, waiting this long. Imagine how much more money I’d have today if only the government had acted sooner!

Second:

Speaking at Monday's signing ceremony for the “Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act”-- a law that will subsidize and regulate what children eat before school, at lunch, after school, and during summer vacations in federally funded school-based feeding programs -- First Lady Michelle Obama said of deciding what American children should eat: “We can’t just leave it up to the parents."

Well of course not. Stupid parents, thinking they’ve got a right or something.

In other news, Democrats still deny being socialists.

  1. I think "totalitarian" is the operative word here. It goes beyond mere socialism.
